TheEvent information 2008

Formula 1 Grand Prix – Feel the noise, taste the adrenaline, hear the excitement and live the experience at the British GP.

A1 Grand Prix – The first ever round of the A1 Grand Prix series was held at Brands Hatch and it returns in May 08. Each car will have exactly the same weight, power and specifications, thereby ensuring an extremely close and exciting contest from start to finish.

British F3 & GT – British F3 has produced more F1 drivers and World Champions than any other series. Over 1/3 of current Grand Prix drivers are British F3 graduates. Most rounds are in conjunction with the high profile GT Championship.

British Superbikes – This prestigious national championship that is regarded as the benchmark for the rest of the world. While the two Superbike races are always the main attraction with so many top riders and teams, the other classes also provide some great racing. The British Supersport and 125cc races, National Superstock and Virgin Mobile Yamaha R6 Cup events provide a perfect balance to a packed programme.

World Superbikes – This championship made a household name of Carl Fogarty, who won the last of his WSB titles in 1999, in a way not seen since Barry Sheene did it in the 70’s. This season will be like the last an absolute crowd pleaser, the battle never ends with explosive action throughout the race day.

British Touring Car Championship – After F1, touring cars are the most watched racing cars in Britian. The doorhandle-to-doorhandle of tin-top racing is always a crowd pleaser, and this season looks like being one of the best for the BTCC in years.

F1 Testing  - Formula 1 testing takes place at Silverstone in June. This provides the perfect chance to experience all the
drama and excitement of modern F1 cars running flat out in what’s a remarkably relaxed atmosphere. With track time severely limited between races during the 2007 season, most of the top teams and drivers will be there.

FIA GT Championship - Silvestone’s annual FIA GT Championship  is now firmly established as the UK’s premier sportscar race meeting. Featuring a wealth Aston Martins, Corvettes, Porsches, Ferraris, Maseratis. The main event being the 500KM GT racing classic.

Silverstone Classic - Celebrates eight decades of motor sport from the golden eras of Grand Prix, GT, touring cars and bike racing. With up to 22 races over the weekend featuring more than 700 competitors creating what is widely heralded as the world’s largest paddock.

LMES - The highly prized serious only comes to Britain once a year and Silverstone play host to what promises to be one of the highlights on the UK racing calendar. 2007 saw the debut of Peugeot’s new diesel powered 908 with an all star driver line-up spearheaded by former F1 world Champion Jacques Villeneuve.
